Thinking of Becoming a Vegetarian

Ricki Lake Fat Thinking of Becoming a Vegetarian.

Vegetarians are people who choose not to eat meat, poultry or fish. This can be a hard lifestyle but for some the sacrifice is worth it. Some reasons people become vegetarians are; they don't like meat, they don't want animals to suffer death for food, they want to eat healthy, religious reasons, and ecology.

Vegans and vegetarians are different because vegans also abstain from eating all animal by products such as milk, cheese, and eggs. Vegans also will not wear silk, wool or furs.

Most people who decide to become a vegetarian do it instantly. Once the belief system is in place to make this change it's a simple transition.

Some vegetarians still cook meat products for their family members. Some believe it is an individual choice and not one to be forced on their spouse or children.

The vegetarian diet is healthy for all family members regardless of age. One thing to keep in mind is to make sure to get enough calories to maintain healthy growth. You should also be very careful to make sure you get enough vitamins and nutrients each day.

Vegetarian diets are typically lower in fat than other diets. Vegans and vegetarians typically do not have a problem with obesity.

It seems in this day and time where the world is becoming more health conscious and with the go green movement the vegetarians seem to have the right idea. Farm fresh food is not only good for the environment but also good for the body.

Some famous vegetarians are Abraham Lincoln, Vanna White, Sir Isaac Newton, Ricki Lake, Phylicia Rashad, Mr. (Fred) Rogers, Mark Twain, Leonardo Da Vinci and Clint Eastwood.

There is an old myth saying that vegetarians do not get enough protein in their diets. Let me assure you this is just a myth. Vegetarians eat a wide variety of foods. Many foods such as dry beans contain protein.

The key to getting the right amount of vitamins and protein in any diet whether it is a vegetarian diet or not is variety. Choose foods low in fat and high in nutrients.
